Visits in the District Fisheries Office MAIPk Kuala Muda, Kedah

KUALA MUDA, 28 September 2016 - Perak Islamic Religious Council & Malay Customs (MAIPk) held a work visit to the District Fisheries Office Kuala Muda, Kedah for waqf boat project implementation. The visit was led by Dr Amiruddin Bin Muhamed, MAIPk CEO with Perak Fisheries Department as well as MAIPK officials. The purpose of this visit was to get information about the boat used by the fishermen to go to sea and management of the catch obtained.

During the visit, Kuala Muda District Fisheries officials, Mr. Wan Johari Wan Teh explained where almost 97% of the population in Kuala Muda work as fishermen and 100% of these fishermen are Malays. A total of 800 fishermen in Kuala Muda region have a class A license and nearly 400 fishermen owns a private boat. The fishermen use fiber type boat that measures 30 x 8 feet with 115 horsepower engine.
